How to Keep Children Interested in Learning through Interactive Methods
There are many ways you can teach children, but if you really want them to take an active part in learning rather than just memorising facts or numbers, then the best way to do this is through interactive learning. Interactive lessons eliminate one-way communication or individualised instruction in favour of engaging students in the material. These lessons allow students to understand what they…

the boys during medical residency
┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊
summary: we've seen the boys on the field but how would they deal on the other side of battle: in the medical field?
pairing: none!
warnings: swearing, medical descriptions
a/n: just a lil something something as i'm working on a few requests, wips, and preparing for my hospital rotation on monday!
┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊
price
specialty: general surgery
the long hours or sudden calls don’t get to him bc this man never sleeps
"Price, sorry it's late but-" "I'll be right in"
no one knows how he does it but rumor has it he can be ready and over at the hospital in 20 minutes tops
maybe he's just the king of multitasking
a great educator for his fellow medical professionals and patients
he can make a procedure sound like a walk in the park with his soft smile and reassuring words
in fact, the new intern mistook him for a senior doctor when they first met him
that boosted his ego and made the early mornings even more worth it
once he's in the operating room, he is fully focused and locked in
regardless of the surgeon's choice of music for that day, price is ready to go and immediately steps in when its time
speaking of which, his stitches are textbook, perfectly aligned, high tensile strength, and with no tissue reaction
always has everything prepared for handoff to the night resident
this man is READY to leave once he sees his co-resident enter the ward
he gives the most essential run down (he's just tired, not sloppy) and he gets the hell out of there
soap
specialty: pediatrics
most people think pediatrics are straight forward but actually you need to have some creativity
that’s where soap comes in
a child needs to take a respiratory test but is having trouble? think of it like you’re blowing birthday candles
a child doesn’t understand why they need to have their operation? time to pull out dolls and teddy bears to show how the doctors are gonna make them better
he always shows up no matter how early or late with a smile on his face
easily the kids’ favorite resident (he’s the first person most ask to sign their cast)
hates pre-rounds, he wants to get right in and see the patient's and families for the day
despite this, the other senior and junior residents (even the interns) have to remind him that it is essential to have a plan
when he's finally let loose is able to round, he has a field day walking down the hall
you just know all the attendings and nurses have to keep it a secret that he's working the night shift
or else they'll have a full floor of excited kids waiting to chat when he comes in during rounds
gaz
specialty: physical medicine and rehabilitation
the absolute king of finding resources
he'll whip out a full pdf study guide on spinal cord injury treatment and leave you questioning if he made this or found it online
also has one of those pocket guides that sums up everything you learn in med school
he's always there to help out those in the same boat
has such a steady hand when it comes to injections for spascicity
always has a terrible joke when he sees someone is receiving botulinum toxin
"You're basically receiving a less cool botox treatment"
despite his corny jokes, the residents, especially the geriatric ones, love him
has a friendly demeanor when collecting a patient's history, they simply feel like its a conversation and they'll tell him everything
he loves when people report sport accidents but still say they'll go back to it when they're better
he appreciates the dedication fr
also great at communicating with patient's and giving them detailed instructions to follow before their next visit
but his favorite part of the job? the diversity of the patient's he sees
PM&R is such a unique speciality that you'll see patients with a variety of injuries from all walks of life
this man truly thrives on his adaptability to educate and treat whatever patient the hospital throws to him
ghost
speciality: emergency medicine
sign-out in the morning is always the most awkward with him
as the nurse gives him a run-down of his patients, he'll just stare and occasionally nod to show he's following
"That all?" is his go-to way to end the conversation and actually begin the day's work
despite his quiet demeanor, he'll go through the motions beautifully for any emergency
easily the attending's favorite because he requires no further instruction and keeps a level head given the hectic nature of the room
since he's the attending's favorite, he's the intern's nightmare with his constant stares and the overwhelming presence he gives
"Am I doing something wrong, Simon?" the intern asks as she preps a central line and he just shakes his head, "Personally not how I would do it but go ahead."
this motherfucker
despite this, everyone admits no one deserves the title of "chief resident" more than him
he's not necessarily the best in the "educating others" department but he's sure to give a good explanation if needed
just know he's not happy about it
but if you survive the infamous ghost of the emergency department, you're on the path to success

hey sex witch, you’ve talked a lot about porn addiction on here but I have some other questions if that’s ok.
I go to Christian highschool and we often have discussions about porn addiction.
my teacher says that most addicted people start consuming porn at around 9. And that even seeing one naked person or one porn or whatever on the internet can put you at higher risk of developing an addiction to porn.
does absolutely any of this have a base in science? Or is this all fear mongering and what not?
hi anon,
first of all, I just want to say that I think it rules that you're seeking information outside of what's being taught at your school. learning how to question what you're told and seek out answers from other sources is a really important skill that can be VERY hard to even begin if you aren't given the resources to easily go looking for information, and I think it's great that you're taking the initiative of seeking out other perspectives :)
now, let's break this down: the concept of "porn addiction" is one largely discredited by psychologists. while people can certainly develop maladaptive coping mechanisms around sexuality, porn, and/or masturbation, this isn't strictly the same as addiction, and several studies have found that the people who are most likely to identify themselves as porn addicts are people who harbor religious or cultural shame about sexuality and porn use, rather than people who use porn more than the average person. it is, largely, a matter of perception.
while access to smartphones means that many people first encounter pornography at a young age - the current average age is somewhere between 9 and 13, depending on the study - and that can be confusing to a child who isn't given the proper framework to understand what they're seeing, it's also not a new phenomenon. in my role as a sex educator I also get to talk with a lot of parents about their early sexual experiences, and many of them recall encountering printed pornography as children when they find it in gutters, the woods, the bedroom of parents or friends' parents, or even stowed in farm equipment. these adults tend to remember being intrigued and excited along with a little confused or alarmed by this first brush with sexuality, but crucially it did not define them as people. as evidence by the fact that they've grown up to send their children to queer-friendly, sex positive, nonjudgmental sex ed classes, early exposure to porn did not stop them from growing into curious, thoughtful, and supportive parents who want to encourage healthy attitudes toward sexuality for their children. porn alone does not have the power to determine the direction of someone's life.
just seeing a naked person or pornography on the internet also cannot immediately make you an "addict." as you've already guessed, this is what we call fear mongering, using information in a way that's exaggerated to make people nervous to even engage with a topic. fear mongering about sex is common among adults and education systems that don't want to young people to be curious about their bodies; another common one is "teaching" young people about sexually transmitted infections by only showing them pictures of untreated cases that have become drastic and painful while insisting that no STI can ever be treated, which is definitely not the case. but the facts don't matter; the priority is trying to make sure teenagers are too scared to have sex until they're adults and the school system is no longer responsible for them.
(and it doesn't even work; states with higher rates of abstinence only education are CONSISTENTLY among those with the highest rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.)
when presented with absolutist statements like this, it's worth poking holes in the logic. for instance, if seeing any naked figure is bad, what about classical art? do nude marble statues put you at risk of being a porn addict? what about other artistic depictions of nudity? or anatomical illustrations? what about real people just changing clothes in a locker room, or young siblings bathing together? does it not count for people who are nearly or partially nude, like someone wearing a bathing suit or athletic clothes? people changing in a locker room together? what about young children being bathed together? and what about all of those depictions about Jesus on the cross wearing nothing but a loincloth? what's the line between "good" and "bad" nudity, and who's deciding where that line is? can such a line even really exist at all?
the truth is that people are undressed or partially undressed in all kinds of situations, and none of them are a corrosive influence on your brain. just looking at something is not enough to completely rewire your brain and permanently change your behavior. ultimately, you are responsible for your own actions.
I hope this has been a helpful answer, and that you stay curious about what you're being taught.

Disability-Friendly Prosperity Magic
So let's face it, those who are disabled have a hard time with money in general, either from being unable to work or not having a steady, strong source of income. Sometimes we can monetize our hobbies, admittedly at a limited capacity (some less or more than others).
From our relationship with money, money mindsets, and income streams, it's hard. That's not to shame anyone, either. Some overspend to cope, while others are incredibly frugal.
In this post, I will review some resources, tips, and tricks for the struggling disabled witch.
The Mundane Before Magical
Step one is to make a budget and track your expenses. I'm serious. Sit down, look at where your money is going, and decide on a budget that you can realistically stick to. I use the 50/30/20 rule as a budget, which is 50% Needs, 30% Wants, and 20% Savings. However, I recently switched wants and savings around so I can save for a trip.
Now I do not want you to worry about a big fancy budget method. I don't want you to overthink it. Here is a resource (Canada, but it can be used in the USA) to start one. Focus on your needs like housing, utilities, basic clothing, food, etc. Then go into wants and entertainment, and finally, savings. I suggest you put any debt payoff into the needs category if you have any debt. You do not want a blow to your credit report.
Now do you have any financial goals? Going back to school? Debt payoff? A trip? Even a big medical trip coming up? Here is a resource (Canada, but it can be used in the USA) that can help you create a goal and a plan to pay this off.
Savings, please, your SAVINGS. It is vital to have an emergency fund. Job loss? Death? Vet bills? Children? Dentist? You better believe that piles up. It is recommended if you are single to have at least 3 months of income saved up, with a child and single at least 6 months. Married on two incomes, the same amount. Married with one income, it is recommended without children at least 6 months saved up and with children 9 months. It is vital you have the means to take care of yourself if an emergency strikes. It is never recommended that money be stopped from being put into these accounts.
If you are in debt, look at your debt relief options. Sometimes there are services out there that can advocate for you regarding debt. They will help you develop a plan, understand the relief options, sign documents with you, and develop a credit rebuilding program. These services are out there; even if they are paid, they can help you pay off some of your debt, especially credit card debt.
Educate yourself on investing, basic investing, and financial literacy, in stock markets and everything beyond. Know what kind of accounts you can hold and what could help you in your situation.
Need help applying for disability? Here's a resource for the USA (a lot can also be used for Canada).
The Magical
Upkeep a prosperity altar. Work with the spirit of money like you would any other spirit. Honour it, talk to it, venerate it. Money loves to be valued, moved, not wasted, and used in charity. Most importantly, money takes time. Money takes time to grow and build a relationship with.
This is the most important thing I've learned about money. It wants to be worked with. It's sitting there. It wants to help and aid you in ways that you need.
Work with this altar on Thursdays, incorporating the spirit of Jupiter. Jupiter rules over finances. Long steady finances, not quick finances. Jupiter rules over business, legal and all things finances. Jupiter is a slower-moving planet.
You can also incorporate the spirit of Mercury on Wednesdays along with your Jupiter workings. Mercury is a fast-moving planet, a planet for fast-moving money. However, you must build a long, steady form of finances over quick, easy cash (but sometimes you do need it right now).
You can create a money bowl and work with it on this altar, a Jupiter cashbox (I will make a future post on this), or a manifestation mirror box filled with petitions, sigils and your investment/banking information.
Fill your altar with greens and gold, imagery for wealth and abundance, pocket change, and anything else that symbolizes wealth.
Do not forget to leave offerings for your money altar. A simple glass of water can do but try to do more if you can.
Road opener workings or petition with an offering for the cross-road spirits who can unblock blockages in your way.
Final Take Away
I know this might not help everyone, but I sincerely hope this helps somebody. Financial literacy was not taught to everyone, nor were proper budgeting tips. I wanted to share what I've learned over the years as I believe it is vital information for some of the information I have collected.
Blessings

Both parties have spoken about the need to focus on children and families during this year’s election cycle. In fact, it has been a talking point for decades in both Democratic and Republican party platforms. Support for children and families is key to the future health of a nation.
Despite this professed commitment, however, approximately 23.6 million young children (0-5 years) in America are at risk of not meeting their developmental potential, draining the country of much-needed human capital. Analyses of the U.S. federal budget indicate very limited investment in children. Overall, data from 2018 to 2024 shows that the share of federal spending on children ranged from 9.71% in fiscal year (FY) 2018 to 12.16% in 2024, with a dip to 7.48% in 2020. Focusing on children under age three, however, indicates a 1.52% federal budget spending in FY 2024. This represented a sliver of the total budget and a decline from an allotment of 1.66% in FY 2023. While the increase in overall spending on children in fiscal year 2024 is welcome news, it falls woefully short of meeting the needs of America’s children and families and is concerning when compared with funding in peer nations around the world.
The result of this checkered pattern of investment is that America ranks last among OECD countries in providing family care and leave, has one of the lowest pre-K enrollment rates with no current universal system in place, last in family-friendly policies, and ranks near the bottom of 41 advanced countries on a series of child wellness markers.
To be fair, the U.S. has taken small steps forward for young children through the Child Tax Credit (CTC), a minor increase in access to licensed childcare centers, an increase in some states for pre-K and family leave. However, these policies offer a piecemeal approach to supporting young children from birth to five years and families and do not offer countrywide, comprehensive coverage. Implementation of many of these initiatives is left to states with uneven consequences. The ultimate result? Child poverty in the U.S. is among the worst in the industrialized nations, and many children in families with fewer resources—who are disproportionately Black and Brown —trail behind their peers from more affluent environments in mental and physical health, education outcomes, and more.
Our wavering commitment to children and families in terms of actionable, comprehensive policies that support children from birth to five years and their families leaves some wondering whether America really cares about its children despite the rhetoric.
This policy brief points to six key areas of investment in which bipartisan action can bring America in line with other nations and make a marked difference in the lives of millions of young children 0-5 years and their families.
We propose bipartisan investment to 1) increase high quality childcare options; 2) increase the availability of quality pre-K; 3) increase programs to mitigate poverty; 4) establish a federal paid family leave policy; 5) increase support for infant and child mental health; and 6) establish a permanent national level body to coordinate multi-sectoral supports for children.

May 2024: Invest in childhood to unlock £45.5bn a year, says Princess of Wales’s taskforce - The Guardian
Report from group set up by Catherine says business can improve early years and benefit all of society. Business investment in early childhood could unlock £45.5bn in value a year for the UK economy, according to a report by a taskforce created by the Princess of Wales.
In the report, CEOs from eight leading companies urged “businesses of all sizes across the UK, to join us and help build a healthy, happy society for everyone”.
The report by the Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, set up by the princess in March 2023, said the figure included £12.2bn from equipping people with improved social and emotional skills in early childhood, £16.1bn from reducing the need to spend public funds on remedial steps for adverse childhood experiences and £17.2bn from supporting parents and caregivers of under-fives who work.
The princess, who announced in March she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy after a cancer diagnosis, was said to be “excited” by the report.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said the release of the report should not be seen as the princess returning to work, but she has been kept fully up to date and seen the report.
Taskforce members announced new initiatives including:
The Co-operative Group creating a specific early childhood fund as part of its unique apprenticeship levy share scheme, and committing to raise £5m over the next five years, creating more than 600 apprenticeships.
Deloitte focusing its ongoing investment in Teach First to include the early years sector for the first time, supporting 366 early years professionals in 2024.
NatWest Group extending its lending target for the childcare sector to £100m, launching an early years accreditation scheme to its staff and producing a financial toolkit for childcare providers to help them grow and succeed.
Ikea UK and Ireland expanding its contribution of support, design expertise and products for babies and young children to six new locations across the UK to help families with young children experiencing the greatest disadvantage.
The Lego Group donating 3,000 LEGO® Education Build Me “Emotions” sets, supported by training materials, to early years providers in the UK.
Iceland Foods providing learning, awareness and support in all 1,000 Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores by featuring emoji posters at a child-friendly height – a practical tool to help customers with young children and to create a space of understanding and support in stores.
Christian Guy, the executive director of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, said it was a “rallying cry” to business leaders to “transform the way our country supports the vital early years”.
The princess, Guy said, “feels passionately about the transformational impact of getting this right, together with business, both for the current generation and many more to come. She is looking forward to seeing momentum grow in the coming months and years.” The work of the centre was “rolling on while she recovers”, he added.
The taskforce – comprising CEOs from the Co-operative Group, NatWest, Unilever, Ikea, Iceland Foods, Aviva, Deloitte and Lego – identifies five areas in which businesses can make the greatest impact for children under five, the adults around them, the economy and wider society.
These are: building a culture prioritising early childhood within businesses, local communities, and wider society; helping the families facing the greatest challenges access the basic support and essentials they need; offering parents and carers greater support, resources, choice, and flexibility with their work; prioritising and nurturing social and emotional skills in young children and the adults in their lives; and supporting initiatives that increase access to quality, affordable and reliable early childhood education and care.
The authors are not lobbying the government for changes in policy, though the report has been briefed to No 10, the Department of Health and Social Care, and the Department for Education.
The report was not meant to be prescriptive, but rather a blueprint to start the conversation and encourage companies of any size to adopt initiatives, however small, its authors said.

Ramble Incoming!⚠️
I'm usually not one to talk much about fandoms or franchises. I'm not even in all that many. Because, to me, they're too much like politics in regards to drama. (Yes, I said it). And I don't feel the need to deal with that. The most I find myself doing in fandoms is showing off my art, and swiftly going back to my corner.
But, I'mma open the can of worms that are my educated opinions. Thus, I might step on some toes. Just… don't take anything personally. Hahah, I'm not out to start beef with anyone. I'm just doing this for fun and to see what others think. I'm 100% up to having some friendly debates! So, feel free to Ask me if you want. :)
Today, Transformers is going to be my victim: I've been watching this fandom for a while… And boy, is it funny to watch y'all chase your own tails. Especially in regards to how y'all treat new content. (All fandoms with continuities do this, not just us).
People always complain that the new show/movie isn't good because and-I-quote. "It's not loyal to the original!"
Of course, creators can't copy-paste the old stuff. With new people, things will change. And that's okay.
Yes, some things—such as the themes and characters' cores, extra—should stay similar. Y'all forget that the new stuff is basically just professional fanfiction that's at this rate. *cough* And that G1 was a slapstick comedy, but I digress. But, give it 10 years, people like the older stuff that… for lack of a better term, everyone hated. It's suddenly much better compared to the new releases.
With that said, I can't really give my opinions on All Spark or Rise Of The Beasts. I haven't seen them yet. So I don’t feel very comfortable talking about them without context.
But what I can give my opinions on are the characters. Specifically how the fandom treats them.
I'm going to use Optimus Prime (the strong one) and Bumblebee (the golden child) as my main examples here.
Starting with the one and only leader of the Autobots:
One of the most common things I see people comment on is. "Optimus is too [insert reason]!" Then go on some tangent. (Which is normally valid, no hate). And the most common statement is that he's 'too' violent… but let me break it to ya… he's not. He deserves to be darker.
Now, hear me out!
This trend started with Bayverse, which yes, I'm not saying those movies are perfect or the best out there. A better part of the writing sucked! (I don't blame them for it, writers kept and still are going on strike). But… they're not as bad as most fans painted them to be. So let me play the Devil's advocate here, please.
The Optimus in the blockbuster films was brutal, yes. But that's not all he was.
Out of all the Primes in most of the movies and shows (I'm not including the IDW comics, I haven't read them yet), he is the most traumatized. Don't believe me? Just think about it.
He not only had what reality he knew torn out from underneath him once, but twi—wait no… three times! Once with the fall of Cybertron (his home), second with Sentinel's betrayal (his father figure), and third with humanity (a race he swore to protect). He has had it rough! Geez…
Not only did he already have very poor coping skills from the beginning. And what support system he did have ended up getting killed, for gosh sake. And now all he has left is Bumblebee and… a load of jerks. I would talk more about this but, Transformers and support systems are a completely different ramble for another time.
No wonder he's mad! I would be too.
Optimus is very obviously grasping at straws here. Yet he still tries his best with the resources he's given. Guys… he tried to give Cade relatable reassurance about his parenting struggles! And that was after humanity started to hunt him down and all the nonsense that ensued afterward.
Another thing that is implied in the movies—that much like Bumblebee—he was a CHILD SOLDIER. (Most of them were if you look at it). He obviously started fighting quite young. So it makes sense, that first and foremost as a soldier he would learn the best and fastest ways to defeat his enemies. Regardless of whether it was seen as brutal or dirty. He would get versed in those techniques after thousands of years of fighting. He gets the job done, that's all that matters.
Y'all also forget that most of the time his opponents were three-plus heads taller than him… ya do what ya gotta keep your loved ones safe, folks.
I love the fact that he has character flaws.
But, he's the strong one, the example child. So the fandom has hung a special set of standards that he must uphold.
Which brings me to Bumblebee, the golden child. Y'all complain to High Heaven about Bayverse. But the Bumblebee movie? Not a peep.
Do NOT get me wrong folks. I adore the Bumblebee movie (and Bee as a character) as much as anyone! But, y'all completely overlooked the fact that… It has some of the most brutal fights in the franchise. Are y'all going to really ignore the fact that Bee shredded Dropkick with a chain? That is on par with how Bayverse Starscream died. Which was just a slower version of Dropkick's death. Speaking of whom, Optimus didn't kill him. N.E.S.T did. And it's by far the most violent death in the blockbuster films. Along with poor Ravage (R.I.P) who… surprise, surprise! Bumblebee killed. Almost no one talks about that…
*Thinks for a moment* Jazz too. Megatron killed him. And no one really commented on how brutal that was either, because it was expected. It's Megatron, he's been shown to be brutal for ages. Ol’ Bucket Head is also very violent in the blockbuster films, big whoop. What am I getting at here? So it makes sense that Prime and everyone else has to keep up with him. I'm afraid G1's 'carefree' passive Optimus wasn't very realistic when you look at the facts of things…
If people are going to talk about how out of character Optimus taking a Decepticon head off is. What about Ironhide? Hound? Bumblebee? He's ripped bots spines out! That is definitely out of character for the OG Bee. Please, keep them all to the same realistic standards!
Which brings me to my next point.
Things tend to be heavily rooted in bias. And with continuities like Transformers, that bias is nostalgia. None of the shows, movies, or comics are going to be perfect, or ever have been perfect. Not only is the notion of perfection impossible but… It's HASBRO. Why do you expect so much from them? They can’t keep jack-squat consistent for anything they own. We all know they have a nasty habit of dropping the coolest lore and never talking about it again… this franchise deserves so much better. It deserves to be shown exactly as it is; a story about a civil war. *sigh* Such a shame.
Anywho… I should probably stop talking now. XD, This is three Google Docs pages long. So apologies! I hope my thoughts (if you made it this far) were interesting at least. I don't know if I made the best of points but, oh well…
Till we meet again, Shalom,
-TonnerreBlanc⚡

Hi Pia
Do you have any advice on how to deal with antis or fandom backlash?
I want to write about a pairing within my fandom but one of the characters is canonically very 'innocent', ie they're described as having a childlike personality/nature even tho they aren't actually a child. But other creators have been cancelled by the fandom for putting this character into sexual situations and I'm worried this will happen to me also if I write this story.
Any advice?
Hi anon!
So, some advice I can give:
Get really friendly with the block and mute buttons, wherever you are putting your fic. AO3 now has a block function, and also, you can delete any comment that doesn't feel right.
If you're super worried, lock the fic on AO3 so that only registered members can comment. It's almost the anons on AO3 who dogpile (same as anywhere) and it's harder to register multiple sock puppet accounts there. This will mean less views, but you can always unlock it down the track.
Mentally prepare in advance for what you will do to protect yourself if you do attract some antis / backlash. For example you might decide to release the fic as is and then decide to lock it down if you get negative attention. Don't leave any negative comments up on AO3 if you can help it, and don't indulge antis. 9 times out of 10 it's not even close to as bad as what you feared, and often it's not bad at all.
But when it gets bad, it's good to know that you're already prepared. If you need to, write down a list of emergency steps you'll take to deal with trolls (antis) and bullies (antis) and put it with the rest of your story so it's easy to find. This can include blocking, muting, reporting (remember - anything that threatens you as a person can be reported directly to AO3 and that person if they have a registered account generally experiences consequences for that, same on Tumblr), deleting comments without replying to them - deleting is a really underused resource on AO3 as far as I'm concerned, connect with the people who know who you are and love you for who you are, antis are good at attacking the person and not the fic, so at times like that, it's good to remember that there are people out there who like you as a person, and know you're not a terrible person because of some fiction you're writing.
It's worth keeping in mind that there will be people in your fandom who want fic of this character, even if they're quieter because they're scared of antis as well (I've noticed that people are less likely to comment or associate their usernames with certain fics in fandoms if antis are very active in that fandom, which is infuriating). But you are 100% not alone in wanting this content and feeling like reading this content, and you being brave enough to put it out there might also encourage other writers to be brave enough to put theirs out there as well!
I remember something kind of similar happened re: the Dragon Age fandom (though not quite as bad, because the proto-Fascist antis hadn't really come into their stride quite yet, but oof they were getting there), and a lot of folks dealt with it by just like, 'ignoring the children' and putting the content out there. Not all antis are children or teens, but a lot are. Not all antis are under-educated Americans who don't understand nuance (due to the aggressive and systematic de-education of US youths for like two decades now that you have to put actual effort in to overcome - it should be a crime imho), but a lot are. Not all antis are into filthy stuff themselves that they can't actually justify and that they feel secretly extremely ashamed of, but a lot are. And no antis have really solid science behind a single thing they're saying, which renders a lot of what they say as meaningless bleating noise informed by evangelist and right-wing and TERF rhetoric, even if they themselves are queer.
Treat them as you would treat a pornbot on Tumblr - just get rid of it. Most of what they have to say is utter nonsense, and the white noise doesn't deserve to be honoured, because it's toxic.
#asks and answers#antis and fan police#purity wank#anti anti#moral puritanism#moral panics of fandom#literally everything an anti says can be traced back to christian science#rooted in misogyny#TERF and SWERF#and alt-right rhetoric#they like to pretend it doesn't#but they literally stand with these people when they talk about these subjects#so while i understand fearing what might happen anon#it's more like if you find mould on your fic#you clean the fic up#but you don't give the mould much of your emotional time#because it's fucking mould

Embracing Neurodiversity: World Autism Awareness Day and Month Shaina Tranquilino April 30, 2024
Diversity should be celebrated, and it's crucial to recognize and understand the spectrum of human experiences. World Autism Awareness Day, observed on April 2nd, and Autism Awareness Month throughout April, serve as vital reminders to promote acceptance, understanding, and inclusion for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Understanding Autism: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that typically appears during early childhood and affects a person's communication, social interaction, and behaviour. However, it's essential to remember that autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning it manifests differently in each individual. Some may have exceptional abilities in certain areas, while others may face significant challenges in everyday tasks.
Breaking Stereotypes: One of the critical goals of World Autism Awareness Day and Month is to break down stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding autism. People with autism are often portrayed in the media in limited and sometimes inaccurate ways. By promoting awareness and understanding, we can challenge these stereotypes and foster a more inclusive society.
Celebrating Neurodiversity: Neurodiversity emphasizes the idea that neurological differences, including autism, are natural variations of the human experience. Just as we celebrate cultural and ethnic diversity, it's equally important to embrace neurodiversity. Each individual, regardless of their neurological makeup, brings unique perspectives, talents, and contributions to society.
Promoting Inclusion: Inclusive practices benefit everyone, not just individuals with autism. By creating environments that accommodate diverse needs, we foster a sense of belonging and respect for all. Schools, workplaces, and communities can implement strategies such as sensory-friendly spaces, clear communication techniques, and inclusive policies to ensure that individuals with autism can fully participate and thrive.
Supporting Families and Caregivers: World Autism Awareness Day and Month also highlight the importance of supporting families and caregivers of individuals with autism. Raising a child with autism can present unique challenges, from accessing appropriate services to navigating social stigma. Providing resources, support groups, and access to inclusive education and healthcare services can make a significant difference in the lives of families affected by autism.
Advocating for Change: While progress has been made in raising awareness and promoting inclusion, there is still much work to be done. Advocacy efforts are essential in advocating for policies that protect the rights and dignity of individuals with autism. This includes advocating for accessible healthcare, education, employment opportunities, and accommodations to ensure equal participation and opportunities for all.
Taking Action: As individuals, we can all play a role in promoting autism awareness and acceptance. Whether it's educating ourselves and others, volunteering with autism organizations, or simply being more inclusive in our daily interactions, every action counts. Together, we can create a more understanding and supportive world for individuals with autism and their families.
World Autism Awareness Day and Month serve as important reminders to celebrate neurodiversity, promote inclusion, and advocate for the rights and well-being of individuals with autism. By raising awareness, challenging stereotypes, and fostering understanding, we can create a more compassionate and inclusive society where everyone is valued and respected for who they are.

“I love the idea of opening up a child’s imagination and challenging a child’s mind,” she says. “That’s always been something I’ve gravitated towards, and it makes the job even more fulfilling than just creating a beautiful visual.”
Abigail Nesbitt has been featured on Variety's Top 10 Animators To Watch of 2023 sponsored by Nickelodeon
As the supervising director of Disney Junior’s “Pupstruction” — a pre-K animated series about a team of canine construction workers — Nesbitt sought inspiration from a plethora of real-world sources, learning about engineering, hydraulics, and industrial machinery to make the show’s tot-friendly world as tangible as possible. Fortunately, she didn’t have to go far. “Here in my apartment on 9th Street in Brooklyn, they’ve been building a subway immediately outside for the last three years,” she says. “So if I need to check out how a particular truck works, I just have to go outside.” With a decade-plus career as a storyboard artist for kids’ animation projects like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and Sesame Street’s “Abby’s Flying Fairy School,” Nesbitt moved up into storyboard directing for Disney Junior toons “Goldie and Bear” and “T.O.T.S.” — the latter of which introduced her to “Pupstruction” creator Travis Braun. Though it sometimes doesn’t get the same respect as animation aimed at older kids and adults, working on preschool-targeted shows allows Nesbitt the opportunity to indulge her imagination while still grounding fantastical worlds in real-life mechanics that a child can comprehend. “I love the idea of opening up a child’s imagination and challenging a child’s mind,” she says. “That’s always been something I’ve gravitated towards, and it makes the job even more fulfilling than just creating a beautiful visual.” Taking on her first role as a supervising director, Nesbitt credits “Pupstruction’s” close-knit team with helping her make the transition seamlessly, and she hopes to use her position to extend the same sorts of opportunities to other budding female animators. “I hadn’t actually seen another woman in the position of some of the jobs I worked on. So I love the idea of mentoring and coaching and helping other female animators and artists, letting them know that there are so many opportunities and stories for them to tell as well.”
Abigail Nesbitt has a series of her own on development at Disney Junior Educational Resource Group for Disney Junior

Hey sex witch! I want to thank you for the response you gave to the 14yo too. Like that other anon, it’s so reassuring to read the kind of responses I’d have wanted to hear when I was a teen, and file them away for when I’ll be the one giving them. You’ve inspired me to read more about sex-positive language and start filling some of the gaps in my own understanding in a more intentional way.
Along that vein: Do you happen to know of any resources for learning how to respond sex- and body-positively to a (preschool age) child who has discovered masturbation? I’m very fearful of instilling shame about it but I don’t really have anyone I feel safe consulting about this in real life. She knows the names of her body parts, but why exactly she has to cover some of them up and not touch them in public is a wrinkle that’s turning out to be challenging to explain. I looked up that OWL program you mentioned but it looks like that’s for kids just a little older(?) and I haven’t really found anywhere near me with the program anyways. Thank you for any help you can give!
hi anon,
thanks for saying so; that's very kind!
this article is a bit old now (I encountered it while researching a paper for my undergrad nearly a decade ago) but I think holds up tremendously for the eternal issue of how to explain that masturbation is okay but masturbation in front of other people is generally frowned up:
OWL is a great program and I'm grateful for all the kids who have access to it, but you can also take our resources and run! we use books by an author named Robie H. Harris. her books are excellent and accessible for a variety of ages, but they're definitely not the only ones out there, and this article has a good compilation of body positive sex ed books for all ages, including your very young one:

Administering color blindness tests for kids requires a careful and child-friendly approach to ensure accurate results. Here's a guide on how to conduct color blindness tests for children:
Choose Age-Appropriate Tests
Select color vision tests that are designed for children.
Tests like the Ishihara Color Test with simplified designs or the Color Vision Testing Made Easy for Kids can be suitable.
Create a Comfortable Environment
Ensure that the testing environment is child-friendly, well-lit, and free from distractions.
Provide a comfortable chair and a small table for the child to sit.
Explain the Purpose
Use age-appropriate language to explain the purpose of the test to the child.
Emphasize that the test is fun and will help determine how well they can see colors.
Use Familiar Objects
Incorporate familiar objects or themes into the test designs to make it more engaging for the child.
For example, use animals, toys, or cartoon characters in the color vision test.
By following these guidelines, you can administer color blindness tests for kids in a manner that is child-friendly, supportive, and conducive to accurate results.
Fun and Engaging Color Blind Tests
Make color vision screening enjoyable for kids with interactive and entertaining tests. Transform a potentially clinical experience into a playful and positive one.

Use bright, contrasting colors to make it visually appealing.
Rainbow Scavenger Hunt
Organize a scavenger hunt where children find items of different colors in their environment.
Provide rewards or stickers for successfully identifying each color.
Colorful Storybook Adventure
Develop a storybook with characters and scenes that change based on color choices.
Let children make decisions throughout the story by identifying or naming colors.
Colorful Balloon Pop
Create balloons filled with different colors and numbers.
Children can pop the balloons and match the colors to corresponding numbers for a fun and tactile experience.
Colorful Fruit Sorting
Use images of various fruits and ask children to sort them into color categories.
Introduce discussions about healthy eating and the vibrant colors of fruits.
Make sure to adapt these activities to the age group and preferences of the children involved. The goal is to create a positive and enjoyable experience while promoting color recognition and understanding.
Tips for Parents and Teachers
Empower parents and teachers with practical tips on identifying and supporting colorblind children in their learning environments.
For Parents
Observation and Communication
Pay attention to any signs of color vision issues, such as difficulty distinguishing colors or consistent color-related mistakes.
Communicate openly with your child about the importance of the color blind test, emphasizing that it's a fun and interesting way to learn about how we see colors.
Choose the Right Environment
Ensure that the testing environment is well-lit and free from distractions.
Make the child comfortable by explaining the process and reassuring them that there are no right or wrong answers.
Follow-Up Conversations
If the test indicates color vision issues, have follow-up conversations with your child to discuss what this means and how it might impact certain activities.
Encourage questions and address any concerns they may have.
For Teachers
Be Observant
Pay attention to students who consistently struggle with color-related tasks or assignments. Be proactive in identifying potential color vision issues.
Incorporate Fun and Engaging Tests
Integrate color blind tests into classroom activities in a playful and engaging manner.
Emphasize that the goal is to learn more about each other's unique perspectives.
Use Color-Friendly Materials
When creating educational materials, consider color-blind-friendly designs.
Avoid relying solely on color coding and provide alternative visual cues when possible.
Celebrate Diversity
Incorporate discussions about diversity, including differences in how individuals perceive colors.
Use inclusive language that promotes understanding and acceptance.
By fostering open communication, creating an inclusive environment, and providing support, both parents and teachers can ensure that children with color vision differences navigate their educational experiences positively.
